Aliive-Roberts County is a state accredited prevention agency that serves Roberts County and the Lake Traverse Reservation in South Dakota.  We are a non-profit organization and are community coalition based.

Our Vision

The vision of Aliive-Roberts County is to have a healthy and safe community for our youth and families.

In order to fulfill the vision, the overall target The vision of Aliive-Roberts areas for the organization are to reduce the percentage of youth risk taking behaviors such as violence, involvement in the criminal justice system, thinking about or attempting suicide, abusing alcohol and other drug related behaviors among Roberts County and Lake Traverse Reservation youth.

Our Mission

Aliive-Roberts County has a mission to improve the quality of life for all Roberts County and Lake Traverse Reservation residents by collaborating to reduce drug and alcohol use among youth and to address other issues that may threaten the health and safety of our communities and families. 

The overarching goals of the organization are to:

  1. Reduce substance abuse among youth and, over time, among adults by addressing the factors in our community that increase the risk of substance abuse and promoting the factors that minimize the risk of substance abuse;
  2. Establish and strengthen collaboration among communities, private nonprofit agencies and Federal, State, local and tribal governments to support the efforts of our community organization to prevent and reduce substance abuse, risky behavior choices and the involvement with the criminal justice system among youth.
  3. Support or implement essential community services to support healthy and successful lifestyles for the youth and families of Roberts County and the Lake Traverse Reservation.

To accomplish our goals, Aliive-Roberts County has community projects in place to address the following issues: 

Underage drinking

Marijuana Prevention

Commercial Tobacco Prevention

Teen Court/Diversion services

Suicide

Positive youth and family activities

Bullying

Other projects are added as funding allows.

What does a coalition do?

Community-based wellness programs are built on the unique strengths and talents of people within each community.

Communities include:

  • Neighbourhoods

  • Religious congregations

  • Cultural and ethnic groups

  • Groups with common interests

  • Policy Makers

  •  People facing common barriers

  • Others who are interested in making change within their community

Aliive-Roberts County works on community issues by bringing together the people in the community who have a common interest in solving it. We are always looking for new voices!

Coalition meetings are held the first Wednesday of the month.
